As some of you might have guessed, “Freedom” is the word that inspired the name “Fredonia”. This is why we call it “the land of free men”. It is a town full of culture. For example, did you know that the most famous Colombian coffee icon, the muleteer Juan Valdes comes from this village? That’s right, one of the most representative figures in the country was born in the land “Fredonitas“.

The Santa Ana church in Fredonia – Source: commons.wikimedia.org

So for example, you can visit the Cerro Combia Eclogical Park, the Monument to the Mother, among other touristic sites of the municipality.
Do not forget that it was one of the most important territories during the Spanish conquest and the roads of muleteers are still a symbol of Antioquia’s struggle. For example, the house museum Anzoátegui is one of the places you absolutely need to know. This place gathers pre-Columbian objects, goldsmiths and ceramics. Also, it owes its name to the Venezuelan General José Antonio Anzoátegui. He was one of the heroes of the Boyacá battle that sealed Colombia’s independence on August 7, 1819.
But let’s talk about what we are most interested in, the Fredonia parties:

Coffee parties, between December 25 and 29:

Approximately 20 coffee brands are produced in Fredonia.
