What is the C\u00e9dula de Extranjer\u00eda?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the c\u00e9dula de extranjer\u00eda, you can travel through Colombia without having to take your original passport with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The c\u00e9dula de extranjer\u00eda is a card that represents your Colombian Visa<\/a> while you\u2019re in the country.
And yes, it is mandatory for those who carry a TP visa. However, it is not for the holders of other visas or PIPs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s your Colombian identification card, so you don\u2019t have to carry your passport everywhere. It also proves that you are allowed to stay on the Colombian ground legally. Therefore, you can travel within Colombia with your C\u00e9dula de Extranjer\u00eda only.

Important:<\/strong> Foreign citizens who enter Colombia as holders or beneficiaries of visas<\/a> with validity of more than 3 months must register with the Migration of Colombia within the next 15 calendar days. This 15-day period starts from your entry to Colombia or from the date of issuance of the visa if you got it within the national territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to get the C\u00e9dula de Extranjer\u00eda?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 11 steps to get your c\u00e9dula:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

1. Scan the first page of your passport<\/strong> in PDF format (Max. 1 MB). Meanwhile, you must have your blood group at hand. If you don’t, you can test it in a clinic eg Las Americas, near the Office Of Migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Enter at http:\/\/www.migracioncolombia.gov.co\/<\/a>\u00a0\u2192\u00a0Formalities<\/a>\u00a0(Tramites) \u2192 C\u00e9dula de Extranjer\u00eda \u2192 Then click on \u201cIngrese Aqu\u00ed \u2013\u00a0Formulario \u00d9nico de Tramites<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Select “Type of Process” (C\u00e9dula de Extranjer\u00eda) and Migration Office near you (Medell\u00edn) and fill out the form<\/strong> with the required information and upload the PDF of your passport<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caution: The Blood Group is required<\/strong> and will be printed on your card.
You also must enter a Colombian address and a phone number<\/strong> (this information will also be required in the migration process) it works fine with a friend\u2019s address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
