How to use your Cívica in Medellín: how to obtain it, prices, apps, transports…
Move comfortably around the city with the Cívica

The Cívica card is a replacement for the paper tickets. Its aim is to help the environment, the economy and also to ease the access to the Metro system.
With this card, you can pay your access to the Metro, Metrocable, Metroplús, Integrated buses and Tranvía. Although it is not mandatory to use it, it’s cheaper and the card is rechargeable with any amount. Besides, you don’t have to wait in the queue in the stations to buy tickets and you can make transport shifts without extra costs. The card itself hasn’t any costs either. Also, it gives you access to the Encicla system and makes traveling on many of the integrated routes a lot easier. Also, you can get a personalized one with your ID or passport in the stations San Antonio, Niquía, Itagüi and San Javier without any costs in the time of Monday – Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., or Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
How can I get my Cívica?
The process is completely free. The steps to get your Cívica are the following:
- Go to a customer service point (Punto de atención al cliente – PAC-) and provide your personal information. These PAC’s are located in the stations Niquía, San Antonio, Itagüí and San Javier. The schedules are Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., or Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is really important to have your ID or passport with you for this procedure.

Where can I recharge my Cívica?
You can recharge your Cívica in any Metro station. It is also possible to do it in external places. Click here to take a look at the list of the authorized places.
What happens if I lose my card?
You can register yourself on the Encicla Web App once you received your card. From there, you can control your account, know the credit available on your card or consult its statement (where and how much you recharged it, where it has been used, etc). You can also block it in case it is stolen or you lose it. That way, your available credit is not used.
You can also have a new card, you just have to follow the steps previously mentioned. The only difference would be that, this time, you will have to pay the new card $3.550 COP (1€) by cash. If you want to recover the credit you had on your old card, you must block the old one first. Once you activated the new one, the credit will be transferred within the next 24 hours.
Benefits
Your Cívica card will become your best ally to use the SITVA transports. Among them is the EnCicla free bike system. Besides, you not only have the benefit of travelling in the Metro more comfortably but you also have discounts in a variety of stores, programs and more.
